My parents’ washing machine is a weird thing to be grateful for. It’s kind of a metaphor for the unrelenting support I receive from them though.
Life doesn’t suck…
because we’re able to use my parents’ washing machine
We’ve been using my fianceĆ©’s parents washing machine the whole time we’ve been living together since our place doesn’t have a laundry. This last week it has had a terminal failure. They’ve bought a new one, but it’s not going to be here till mid next week.
We put off finding a solution for as long as possible, but today, with our laundry basket bursting at the seams we decided that it was time to do something about it. This morning I sent Mum an SOS message. “Sup. Can we use your washing machine?” “Yes, but we’re not home, we’re away camping”.
Since Mum and Dad were away we decided to take over their house for the afternoon. We grabbed all our washing, we grabbed snacks and we headed to their house. We set ourselves up in their lounge with the heat pump on maximum cool, Netflix on TV and snacks on the coffee table.
Our house isn’t the roomiest place in the world so it was quite a novelty to have space, and a washing machine. We got to play house for the afternoon and quite enjoyed ourselves. Three loads of washing later and a whole lot of Netflix and we’re nearly ready to head home.
I’m grateful for the support of my parents, the fact that they are there when I need a washing machine, a meal, or a loan. It’s a really fortunate position to be in and one that not everyone is lucky enough to have.
