Gratitude, Day 54: I am grateful for my problem-solving skills.

I’ve always had good problem-solving skills. I can break a problem down to its key components and work through finding a solution to it.

Life doesn’t suck…
because I have good problem-solving skills

A lot of my work is solving problems for people. Someone will send me a problem that they can’t solve themselves. Then I will take that problem and find a solution to it. These solutions require me to work out what is going on and why there is a problem. Then I work through and find a solution for the problem.

Tonight I was sent a problem to solve. The person sending me the problem had inherited the problem after someone else had created the problem while trying to fix another one. This person reached out to me because they knew that solving problems like this was a specialty of mine. We’ve built a bit of a business relationship based on there being problems they can’t solve. They then refer the problems to me and I fix them.

My favourite part of maths at intermediate school was problem-solving. This was when we had challenges laid out for us and we would work through them. They were word problems and we would analyse the question and turn it into a mathematical equation. Then we would solve the mathematical equation. This was often done as a competition and brought out my competitive steak.

I’m grateful that I was taught these skills and these ways for analysing and solving a problem. These skills have been useful to me many times in my job and get me a lot of work. I’m grateful that I can use these skills daily and that they are sought after.
