Gratitude, Day 40: I am grateful for evenings out with friends

Evenings out with friends are the best. Tonight we had dinner at the night markets. We’d planned to meet up with Mum and Dad but ended up bumping into a bunch of good friends.

Life doesn’t suck…
because of evenings out with friends

The local night markets run monthly on a Friday night. I didn’t even realise today was Friday, to be honest. We’re in that awkward couple of weeks around Christmas and New Year’s Day where I can’t tell you what day it is or the date that goes with it. Mum sent a message asking if we were going to the markets as I was preparing dinner. Dinner went in the fridge and we made our way out the door.

We got there just in time to meet Mum and Dad and set up a picnic blanket. As we were getting food I ran into our friends from Invercargill who we’d hung out with over the previous couple of days. I arranged to meet at the picnic blanket and sent my fianceĆ© a message saying that they were meeting us.

Arriving back at the picnic blanket a family friend who I’ve known all my life showed up. Then my fianceĆ© arrived back at the blanket, then our friends from Invercargill showed up announcing they were meeting family as well. We were growing quite a little gathering.

We all sat around with the different foods that we’d collected from the various vendors and chatted and got to know the people we didn’t already know. It was great being out in the sun catching up with friends. I’m grateful for the opportunity to have evenings out with friends and randomly bump into each other. It’s always fun to have a bunch of people together.
