Gratitude, Day 39: I am grateful for sleep-ins

I love good sleep-ins. This morning I woke up at quarter to eleven. There is nothing quite like getting to sleep until you don’t need to sleep anymore.

Life doesn’t suck…
because I get to have sleep-ins

We’ve spent the last three months watching every season of Big Bang Theory. Last night we finished the last episode of the show’s twelfth and final season. This kept us up till midnight most nights for the last three months, neither a smart or adult decision.

This morning I had nowhere to be and nothing in my schedule. This meant I could sleep uninterrupted until I had no sleeping left to do. There is something seriously satisfying about waking up and not feeling tired. It’s probably equally satisfying to be able to starfish in a king-sized bed once the other occupant has left for the morning.

I often wish that I had the feeling of relaxation and contentment that I have at seven-thirty in the morning when I go to bed. It’s always so much easier to get back to sleep than it is to get to sleep, to begin with.

The best part about being on holiday is catching up on sleep. I function much better having had a solid night’s sleep and I’m a much nicer person to be around.

I’m grateful for having a holiday so I have an opportunity to have a good sleep-in and catch up on some much-needed rest. It will be good to start the year nicely rested and ready to take on a year of hard work. Hopefully, I’ll manage to have a bunch more holidays throughout the year this year and have many more good solid sleep-ins.
