Gratitude, Day 38: I am grateful for good days with good friends

Our first day of the new decade was a good day with good friends. We spent the afternoon at the beach, not getting home until 7 pm.

Life doesn’t suck…
because of good days with good friends.

Some friends of ours who live in Invercargill (the other end of the country) are up at the moment to spend time with family. We spent the afternoon with them yesterday having a New Year’s Eve picnic in the park.

They’ve just had their first baby and we haven’t seen them in two years so we were really excited to see them. We’d been to the supermarket and bought a bunch of bits and pieces for a picnic. We had our picnic dinner together and then walked along the edge of the river visiting the ducks and geese.

They’ve bought themselves a house bus and are going to spend the next twelve months traveling north and exploring the country before ending up here. It’s cool knowing they will be living nearby as we get along really well with them.

Today they came to visit us at home and we hung out before heading to the beach. They’ve bought themselves a seven-seater car so we all piled in the car together with our beach gear and headed to the beach. We spent a couple of hours in the waves and a bunch of time catching up.

It’s really cool to see them again and chat about what we’ve all been up to. It’s exciting to know we will be able to spend more time together in the future. We have some really intellectual conversations which I really like.

I’m grateful for good days with good people and looking forward to more of them in the future.

Current gratitude streak: 38 days
