Work trips are a nice change from sitting in the office all day. it’s eighty-seven days since my last work trip that sparked the creation of this blog. Today I drove to Auckland again to meet with one of my best clients.
Life doesn’t suck…
because of work trips
Getting to Auckland on time requires an early start. I’m out of bed at six and on the road by six-thirty. My timing puts me just behind the traffic in the city, so I avoid the worst of it.
My client is based in Newmarket. This involves a trip over the bridge and leaves me to the south of the CBD. We meet at their showroom which also houses some of their manufacturing.
It’s an exciting company, run by a group of impressive young women. The owner is a very clever woman with a passion for sustainability. She does business very smartly and is following many great modern business practises.
I always enjoy spending the day out of the office. This is a nice change to sitting in front of a computer all day. It gives me a good chance to be in the work environment of my clients. This lets me see how their business operates and gives me a better understanding of the company culture.
I can do my best work when I understand a company well. It means that I know how things work. This means I can make sure that what I do best fits the client.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to make work trips. I can work remotely for clients in many locations. But it’s always good to get to spend some time with them
