Gratitude, Day 74: I am grateful for flexibility

Flexibility is under-rated. Being self-employed gives me more flexibility than I used to in regards to when I work. This is amazing for scheduling my life.

Life doesn’t suck…
because of my flexibility

Today has been a public holiday in New Zealand. I would normally take public holidays off, but tomorrow my fianceƩ is working and I need to be at home. Because of this, I figured I may as well move my day off from today to tomorrow.

This is one of the huge advantages of being self-employed. I can move my work schedule around to suit what’s going on in my day to day life. I can be flexible with starting times, finishing times and days off depending on what is going on and where I need to be.

In previous jobs, I wouldn’t have been able to do this. I would have had to be at work when my employer wanted me to be. Now as my own boss I can choose when I work the hours that I need to work.

As long as the work gets done it doesn’t matter when I work. I need to be contactable if my clients need to get in touch, but normally things aren’t super time-critical with their requests.

I love having this flexibility and it’s one of the greatest parts of being self-employed. I’m grateful every time I get to take a day off when people are at work, when I get to leave early or when I get to work from bed.

I’m grateful for the flexibility of self-employment and the benefits that it gives me. Self-employment is awesome and I’m thankful for this.
