They say that proper preparation prevents piss-poor performance. I’ve always agreed with this and use it as a bit of a mantra to live by.
Life doesn’t suck…
because of proper preparation
I’ve spent the last couple of days doing lots of research and gathering resources for a job that I’ve been working on. I’ve read lots of articles, looked at similar projects, studying what went into them and read all the instructions for all the services I’ve been using.
Today marked the culmination of these efforts and it sure went well. My proper preparation prevented a piss-poor performance. All the little pieces fell into place. The research and resources paid off and it was like putting together a little puzzle of information.
This success felt amazing. Every little hurdle I overcame was a bigger and bigger rush. When I saw that I’d successfully achieved what I set out to achieve I was buzzing. I rode a wave of excitement all day as these successes came.
This reinforced for me the importance of this preparation. I could have just stumbled through the whole project, but the preparation saved me a lot of time. Doing the preparation felt like drudgery. It felt like slow progress. But once I got onto the final leg where I put all the components together it all started to flow.
Everything working out made it all worthwhile. I’ve been taught to break problems down into smaller components. This makes them more manageable. Each small component a vital part of the whole problem.
Learning to solve problems like this and ensure proper preparation has been hugely useful to me. I am grateful to have these skills.
