Puzzles are something I haven’t indulged in for a long time. Today I spent a couple of hours with a puzzle and the youngest member of our household. We had a great time.
Life doesn’t suck…
because of puzzles
I don’t know when I last did a puzzle was. Today’s puzzle is one thousand pieces. It was a selection of different dog breeds with information about each one.
No sooner had I started looking at it than I realised how much enjoyment I got from them. It was clear that the puzzle wasn’t going to fit on the surface it was sitting on. So I found a small table and we moved it to there.
I proceeded to sort the pieces that were still in the box. A pile of edge pieces on a magazine. Then a pile of pieces with dog names on another surface. I worked out a system and we started getting more and more pieces together.
My puzzling companion had already put together a bunch of the dogs. Because of this, we had some good chunks of the puzzle already made. They just needed to be arranged and connected. It was a huge buzz every time two large sections were joined together.
I just wanted to keep going and going. I think I could have sat there and finished the puzzle in one sitting had my helper not got bored and wanted to do something else.
There is amazing satisfaction in piecing together the small pieces and slowly building the picture out. It’s a great feeling of achievement and became very addictive.
I’m grateful to have rediscovered the interest in puzzles. It’s a great work out for my brain and excellent bonding time. Once this one is finished I’m looking forward to my next one.
