Gratitude, Day 56: I am grateful that I have sore legs.

I was in the garden today and thought to myself “I have sore legs”. Some may ask how this is something to be grateful for. At first, I only saw the negatives of having sore legs. Then I reframed the situation and saw the positive side to it.

Life doesn’t suck…
because I am able to exercise till I have sore legs

I realised that I am fortunate to be able to exercise. The fact that I can exercise is something I take for granted. There are so many people that would love to have sore legs. This means that I have been able to use my legs to a state that they hurt.

Having sore legs makes me more fortunate than people who can’t walk. It makes me more fortunate than people that have had legs amputated. More fortunate than people born without legs. There is a whole range of people who would love to have sore legs.

We take a lot of things for granted. Small things that are so big for other people. It’s very easy to feel sorry for ourselves when things aren’t going exactly how we want them to be going. But part of being thankful is remembering what we actually have.

All these tiny little advantages that we have that just are just blurred into everyday life. These are things that other people are missing out on. It’s a pretty big privilege to be able to walk until you have sore legs.

I’m very grateful for this privilege. I’m grateful for the circumstances that I have found myself in. My life is pretty good and this is something to be thankful for every day.

Life doesn’t suck.
