Summer weekends really make it feel my summer holiday hasn’t finished. I’ve made it to the end of the weekend and I’d almost forgotten that I’d gone back to work.
Life doesn’t suck…
because summer weekends make it feel like my summer holiday hasn’t ended.
We were driving to the beach this afternoon with the sun streaming down. The thermometer in the car was showing thirty degrees and it was four pm. I felt like I was still on holiday and had forgotten that I had to be at work tomorrow morning.
Getting to the beach there were people absolutely everywhere. Kids on bikes, campgrounds still set up. Among other things there was also a giant blow-up pink flamingo sitting on the beach. It felt good to be relaxing at the beach.
There is always this period after Christmas before summer has managed to slip away and the weather has started to cool off again that just feels like it’s still a holiday. I’m a real summer person and enjoy being out in the sun.
I’m at my most comfortable in shorts, a t-shirt and jandals. You’ll find me dressed like this for as much of the year as possible. When it gets colder I’ll almost always change to shorts and a t-shirt once I get home, purely for comfort.
These summer weekends do their best to drag out a great summer holiday. Trips to the beach do their best to distract from the fact that I’m back in the office during the week. A nice busy weekend also feels much longer than one spend sitting around not doing much.
I’m grateful that my summer weekends give me this last little taste of my summer holiday. I’m grateful that I get to relax at the beach forgetting the week that was and being nice and prepared for the week to come.
