Gratitude, Day 41: I am grateful for living in paradise

Living in paradise is a dream for many. Paradise is what you make it. Many people wouldn’t consider my home town paradise, but these same people take for granted what we have.

Life doesn’t suck…
because I am living in paradise

We live within a short drive of over one hundred beaches. I’m currently about ten minutes’ drive from a beach that has a surf beach and an estuary. The estuary is nice and calm to swim in while the surf beach can have the best waves in the area with the right conditions.

I live fifteen minutes’ drive from work. Sometimes when traffic is heavy it can take up to twenty minutes to get to work. The drive is a pretty good one too. It winds through the countryside and is never very busy.

All my life I have been surrounded by people complaining that there is nothing to do here. The more than likely don’t enjoy the plethora of beaches and the fact that they are close to everything living in our beautiful city.

I lived in Auckland for a year. It showed me how good we have it here. Everyday traffic would be a slow trickle down the motorway in the morning and exactly the same at night. Hundreds of thousands of people stuck in traffic crawling to and from work each day.

Not everyone who lives here thinks that they are living in paradise. A lot of those people haven’t left the city or lived anywhere else. I’m grateful to have what I have in my home city. I’m very lucky to have what I have here and I’m glad that I’m able to live and work where I want.
