Gratitude, Day 37: I am grateful for a good decade.

The last ten years has been a good decade for me. I feel like I have made a lot of progress in life and business and am very happy about it.

Life doesn’t suck…
because I’ve had a good decade.

In the last decade, I’ve got a diploma, started a business, met my fianceĆ© and met a whole lot of great people. It’s been the best decade of my life and I feel like my life is just going to keep getting better.

In 2011 I started studying in Auckland. I did a year-long diploma and met a bunch of people that I’ve stayed friends with ever since. Living in Auckland was a big experience for me and opened my eyes to a lot of things. I experienced cultural diversity that I’d never seen before. I was introduced to foods that I’d never eaten before. My circle of friends increased hugely.

I started my business in 2012. This was a first for me. I’d never been self-employed and I had had very little exposure to businesses and how they are run. My parents weren’t business people, so the whole business concept was new to me. I knew a couple of family friends that had businesses but had never really paid huge amounts of attention to how they ran them.

In 2016 I met the woman I will marry. I was four years into my business and had learnt a lot about myself. I wasn’t expecting to meet someone, but I am very grateful that I met her. The last three years that we have spent together have been amazing and we have a wonderful relationship. I love her more than I ever thought I would love someone.

The last decade has been a third of my life. It’s been an amazing ten years. I have grown a huge amount and really learnt about myself and become a better person. I am grateful that it’s been such a good decade and I am excited to see what the next one brings.

See you next decade!
