Gratitude, Day 10: I am grateful for my mental health

Today I was discussing mental health and wellness with someone. This made me grateful for where I am and the journey I’ve been through.

Life doesn’t suck…
because of what I have learned about my mental health.

My mental health journey has been a long one with many challenges. I’ve been 0n this journey for over half my life. This started at High school was when my symptoms were first apparent. Since being diagnosed with depression when I was 14, l have spent my life learning about myself and what goes on in my head.

I’ve reached a stage in my life and my personal development where I’m in a really good place. I am surrounded by great people and have many great tools to deal with life. I am very grateful for these tools and people and how much smoother they make my life.

Other people don’t have it as easy as me. I am the person that “had it all” that you hear about all the time. I’m lucky to have had huge support from my family and the people around me. Their support has made my journey much smoother than it could have been. I’ve always had someone to talk to. So I’ve always had someone there when I was feeling low. If I was alone I’ve always known I could call someone.

Some people aren’t this fortunate and don’t have the support of parents and loved ones. Sometimes people have issues with family that contribute to their problems. Other people have years and years of baggage that needs a lot of unpacking. I’m very lucky to have a much simpler set of circumstances and have had a much smoother journey.

Today I’m grateful for the ease in which I have made it to where I am in my journey and everything that has contributed me getting to where I am.
