Gratitude, Day 20: I am grateful for taking time to recharge.

I love taking time to recharge. There is nothing as good as sleeping in on a Saturday morning after a busy week of work. It feels good to sleep until you feel like you’ve had enough sleep.

Life doesn’t suck…
because I take time to recharge.

This morning I didn’t need to leave the house. We’d been out late last night and traveled a long way so I was craving a good sleep in. I managed to sleep until nine. After this, I got up and had breakfast before making a start on a nice slow-cooked dinner.

I prepped a slow-cooked Mexican beef meal before sitting down to watch a movie with the youngest member of the family. It’s nice not to be running around doing jobs. I love spending a slow day around the house without the stress of work, doing things in my own time.

Once the movie was finished I made pizza for lunch. I’ve really been enjoying cooking meals, and the weekend is a great time to indulge in this hobby. I’m grateful to have this interest in developing these skills, it’s great being able to make a meal that’s exactly what you want it to be and tweak it to suit your tastes.

I managed to make it to three o’clock before leaving the house. We went to town to pick some things up and got some pool supplies so we can get the pool ready for the long hot summer we’re expecting. We have a freestanding pool that we put up for summer. At the start of each summer we have to set the pool up, fill it and then add the salt that we use to make chlorine.

Once I’d done that I took the ride-on lawnmower and went and mowed the lawn and tidied the yard. Days like today make me grateful to have time to recharge and spend a quiet day around the house doing low-stress chores. I like the feeling of having achieved and that I can also feel rested after doing so.

Current gratitude streak: 20 days
